Please consider being a judge in the 2025 Alaska History Day contest! It’s all online, and each year we have a wonderful panel of volunteers from across the United States review student projects, all from the comfort of your home. Mark your calendars for April 3-9, 2025!
Are you a teacher? Judging is a great opportunity for new-to-History-Day educators to gain familiarity with the program. Current History Day teachers are encouraged to judge as well!
You don’t need to be an expert historian to be an Alaska History Day judge. Volunteering as a judge is an excellent way to support education in Alaska.
As a judge, you will:
- Sign up and register in at ak.nhd.org
- Complete an Orientation/Training Session (March/Early April)
- Review each project based on its merits, setting aside any personal opinions or bias on the topic (April 3-8, 2025)
- Work with a judge team to review projects using the Zfairs platform
- Select the strongest projects to advance to the next level of competition
- Provide written feedback about each project you view
